Image
1) List the  different people/groups represented  in the trailer (men/women/Americans etc.) From the clip we can tell who the hero is as we gener ally stereotype superhero to have some sort of suit they wear when fighting the villain. The women we see,Morena Baccarin, acting as Copycat, is a women that is used as a helper to assist Deadpool to get better. At 54 seconds, we see the false hero that tells the hero he can be helped. At 1.11, we see a female as one of the villain. 2) For each group, decide whether the representation is a  dominant  or  alternative  portrayal. 3) What  stereotypes  can you identify in the trailer? The main hero Deadpool is wearing a red suit which is  dominant  portrayal as   we Gene ally stereotype superhero to have some sort of suit they wear when fighting the villain.  Morena Baccarin, acting as Copycat, is represented as a dominant portrayal as we stereotype women to be the kindhearted and be very supporting. It also show us that

Audience theory: blog tasks

1)How does this article link to the hypodermic needle model?  This theory is a linear communication theory which means that the information goes straight from the producer to a passive audience. It means that their are no individual difference to people thoughts the media and everyone will think the same way to the media. From this article, this theory is correct as the students that played the violet games reacted to the situation in a hostile way and had dark thoughts. It was correct as the violent thoughts were injected to the brain. 2) How does coverage of the Talk Talk hacking case link to the hypodermic needle model? Why might someone criticise this front page?   From playing the violet, the child learnt how to hack. He learnt it by playing the game to much and was addicted to it. This front cover shows the hypodermic needle model as they have written the words "BABY FACE" which will shows the audience that a violet game could lead to them not knowing the difference be

'Clouds over Sidra'

1) What does new Media such as 'Clouds over Sidra' offer audiences? What is there a target audience and how do you know?    'Clouds over Sidra'  is a 360 video that allows the audience to move around in what they are watching. This is called virtual reality. This type of media, in my opinion, is one of the most effective ways of watching any sort of media. It allows the audience to feel like there are in the same place that the character is in. When you watch the 360 video, especially in the classroom, you feel that you are there. The target audience for this video is younger people that are into the latest gadgets. It will show younger people what other young people are facing in their lives and give them information but current affairs.  2) How has the new perspectives offered by the digital world changed the relationship between the audience (consumer) and the Media product (producer)? Consider: Sensory overload / the role of empathy / Immersive media Th

John and Olivia first met in high school but barely talked to each other. John was born in Surrey with a middle class family and Olivia was born in France and also was in a middle class family. Olivia went to international school where she had traveled the world to study in different countries but decided to settle down in the UK. After going to the same school they went to the same University and they found out they where doing the same course. They started dating and found out they had more in common with each other. After 3 years of dating, John proposed to Olivia in a 5 star hotel. Because they both do accounting, they are very busy so they didn't watch to much TV after they got their jobs.  Now they are thinking of having a baby but also thinking of adopting a baby. Media consumption:  They mostly consumed media from their phones as it was more accessible to them. They were able to read the news on BBC news app as they could read it when in the train to go to work. When

Genre factsheet

Fact sheet 3 Genre: Categorising texts 1) What example is provided of why visual iconographies are so important? Genres are categories or types of media text. Genres are recognisable through the repeated use of generic codes and conventions. 2) What examples are provided of the importance of narrative in identifying genre? Genre can also be indicated in the way the story is told using its narrative which is the structure of the story telling and the plot which is the events and occurrences within the story 3) What is the difference between character representation in action movies and disaster movies? Action movies The ’lone wolf’ hero, for example is a convention of an action text. Here the hero tends to be positioned outside a supportive group and he works alone to fight the villains or save the world. Disaster movies The disaster movie usually often places the heroic role within a group of people. Often they all have particular strengths which play a part

Deadpool Todorov's equilibrium: From the the first few seconds, there is a equilibrium as there is harmony and they haven’t encountered any trouble. As the three characters on shot are walking towards a fight with confidence and the editing used to make it slow motion show the audience that they are in harmony. However, at 00:12 seconds, from the mise en scene of the facial express, you can tell something has gone wrong. The disequilibrium is the moment that they find out that they have forgotten their equipment in the taxi. This disruption will slightly confuse the audience  and create the mystery of what will happen next as it does not follow the general happy ending. There is also  another disequilibrium of the driver getting in a car crash and the victim in his trunk shouting. This will make the audience feel that there is no hope for for the 3 hero in the beginning of the scene. From this clip there aren't any new equilibrium as it happened after this clip when they
