Audience theory: blog tasks

1)How does this article link to the hypodermic needle model? This theory is a linear communication theory which means that the information goes straight from the producer to a passive audience. It means that their are no individual difference to people thoughts the media and everyone will think the same way to the media. From this article, this theory is correct as the students that played the violet games reacted to the situation in a hostile way and had dark thoughts. It was correct as the violent thoughts were injected to the brain.2) How does coverage of the Talk Talk hacking case link to the hypodermic needle model? Why might someone criticise this front page? From playing the violet, the child learnt how to hack. He learnt it by playing the game to much and was addicted to it. This front cover shows the hypodermic needle model as they have written the words "BABY FACE" which will shows the audience that a violet game could lead to them not knowing the difference between reality and fiction. As a result, they will copy this action to a real life problems. This will convince the audience that this theory is correct. People could criticise this cover as they are exposing this child's private life situation and exposing the family. The cover has used extra words such as, "addicted", "rarely leaves his room" and "BABY FACE" to make it look like it is a bigger issue than it is to attracts more viewers.Two-step flow model

1) Summarise the two-step flow model. In your opinion, is the two-step flow theory still relevant today?It is about opinion leaders that get information from the media and give it to the audience. It tell us that audiences are active in the communication. In my opinion, this theory is still used today as teenagers consume media mostly from social media.People get influences by Youtubers and people that tweet their opinion on these sites. It allows the audience to feel more connected to the media as they are taking in media from people they care about. For example, if a YouTuber tells you that a product is good, you are likely to believe it. 

2) How does this YouTube blogger fit into the two-step flow model? The Youtuber is giving his opinion on the game and talking about how to play the game. People are likely to do what he says as he has a big following and people must be following for a reason.3) How this this Telegraph article on influential tweeters fit the two-step flow model?This article show us that people are more influenced by 5 singers than the Prime Minister of the UK. I think this is because of the younger generating have a huge platform of opinions that come from different people and they are likely to listen to people they feel more connected to. For example, a fan of One Direction will care more to what they say than the Prime Minister because of the amount of followers. This could be why Donald Trump used Twitter to talk about his opinion on the country so people feel a better connection to him.

4) Read this BBC profile of Jamal Edwards. How does Jamal Edwards link to the two-step flow model?It dose link as it show us that he published his films on YouTube and become a miti-millionaire. This shows us that people where influenced by his media than if it was published on TV as people feel more connected as they feel that they could do that as well.
Uses and Gratifications theory 1) For each of the four categories, write about one media text that fits that particular audience use or pleasure. Make sure you explain WHY it fits the category and use images or clips to illustrate your points.DiversionI have decided to choose The Big Bang Theory show as it allows the audience to escape from reality ans watch the lives of other people. People could watch it to be entertained and not face to problems they are facing in real life.Personal RelationshipsThe audience allows to build a relationship as we see the couple grow to a man and feel that we are connect to him. We are emotional attached to the character so we feel sorry when his wife dies.SurveillanceWe watch the news to know what is happening around us and  find out if any current affair could affect us. It allows us to be informed in different ways such as from social media or from the app.Personal IdentityPersonal identity will mostly depend on the audience and what type of person they are. This is when you are connected to a character and see yourselves in them.

By using darker colours , it make the audience feel that something is hidden to create mystery . It can also show the he is negative because black is linked with his mood.  You could say the black absorbs light and say he is learning from mistakes or that 50 cent doesn't emitted anything so he keep a lot of thing to himself. Using a simple black and white colour scheme make the consumer think more about his life and how simple it was when he was a child.  The close up show us that he is being personal. My own power point, www: I had a handout that had good information that could intrigued the audience. It allowed the audience to have something to take from the presentation so they can use it when revising.  The starter involved the audience when so that the lesson started in a good mood and where more interested afterwards. I spoke about what they own and what they use their money on so that the audience knows how the company became more powerful. EBI I could of asked question to the audience so they could interacted with me and i could of made sure that the lesson was meaningful. This make sure that they take something away from the lesson.  explain the slide more so that the audience knew everything on screen. have a better ending so that the audience could of had a overall coclusion to finish the lesson.
