ILL MANORS is a crime thriller set in London. The main plot is about individuals living in the hardest parts of London. It shows their different perceptive of living in a dangerous place and as the plot develops, them somehow being connected in the end. In the movie, there are 7 main characters:

  • Aaron, who is the main character, is shown being different from the people who he hangs out with. He is more thoughtful about what he does and isn't afraid to do the right thing. He is the character most of the audience would identity to.
  • Ed, who is a friend of Aaron, is one of the drug dealers. For must of the film, he is looking for a phone that got stolen and starts abusing someone else for that issue.
  • Michelle, who is the one being abused, is trying to help women find a baby that she left in a train
  • Katya, the one with the newborn baby, is running away from a gang of people
  • and Kirby, a drug dealer, who is getting too old and is passing the job to his son Chris.
  • Chris, the son of Kirby, is one of the bigger dealers who loses one big weapon that starts a domino effect of bad thing

PlanB, the cab driver, is the director of the movie who also made the songs for the movies. According to him, his movie was inspired by the riots that happen in the UK and the aftermath. It shows the audience a very real perceptive of the worst parts of London that aren't showed to the world.  The movie was shot in East London where PlanB grew up and is his view on the area about crimes and gangs.
PlanB using his own music in the film which I think is one of the main straight about this movie. The songs used are very parallel to the mise on scene. Also the fact there is an album widen the audience of the film. Another strength was how they built the character personalities. You felt like you knew them as individuals. Lastly, the fact that they use very dark scene made it more authentic as it want the stereotypical gang film.
One weakness, in my opinion, is that the ending could have been better. The built up was good and kept the audience engaged but the ending didn't make sense as the character randomly came to the pub at the same time. Also, there is a part when the structure is lost as scene are put in without reasons. One example is when they accused a random prostitute of stealing and have a 5-minute montage of them using her for money.

This is a very good movie that shows the audience the roughest part in the UK. It is an urban movie about the gangster in East London.I don't think it is good as Adulthood but is a good movie for a new director like Bew Brew.
