Ill Manors print: branding
- What are the key conventions that help you identify the print text (e.g. title, central image, review quotes etc.)?
Title- The title is easily visible in all the poster and
promotion print as well as the digital advertisements. Also, the font used is the same in all posters
to establish a brand so it becomes well known. The word” ILL” is written in a
very large font compared to others which might suggest something about the
film. The word “ill” can mean different thing. It could mean that the characters
are ill from their actions or the film itself is harmful to sensitive
consumers.
Central image- The image takes most of the screen and is a
very strong image. This is because of the expression of the character (Riz
Ahmed) is serious and give a message of importance. By using a prop of a gun,
it tells the audience violence is a key aspect of this film. Also the fact that
it is a real gun reminds the audience that the film is social realism in harder
parts of London. You can tell it is the harder parts of London because of the
background. It also sets the setting for the film.
Colour scheme- The colours used in all the poster are the same dark blue. This helps the audience decode more easily. The colour blue is associated cold (cold hearted), faith and seriousness which are all connected to the film.
Competition- They have used quotes to show audiences how
well it is doing as well as promoting the film at the same time. This would
give a reason to watch the film to find out why it got good rating.
- What design features help identify the Ill Manors brand?
The font used in the posters is the same to build a brand so
people can tell easily that different poster are linked. They also use PlanB as

violence such as guns and smoking.
